Make your own mush

Veggie mush is completely open source -- no need to buy from us,

we have the recipe right here for you if you prefer to make your own.

Sourcing ingredients

We buy dried ingredients in bulk to save on shipping weight, minimize packaging, and ensure long shelf life for our Mush mixes. You could easily make Mush with fresh, frozen, or canned ingredients though! See the mix ingredient spreadsheet for links to our ingredient sources.

Tips for making a bulk mix

Pre-mixing the dry ingredients for a 48-meal bulk veggie or breakfast mix makes it super fast to prepare a meal when it's lunchtime! See the spreadsheet linked above for a list of ingredients and amounts. The instructions are simple: just combine all the listed ingredients and mix! Below are a few additional tips and suggestions.

We make our mixes in a 5-gallon bucket and use a kitchen scale to weigh each ingredient into the bucket. To mix the ingredients together, put the lid on the bucket (we recommend these screw-top lids for easiest access) and shake it or roll it around.

For seed & spice mix, we mix in a large mixing bowl or a plastic storage container with a lid. We buy whole sunflower and chia seeds and then grind them in a blender (flaxseed is easier to buy pre-ground). Add the spices and mix so they coat the ground seeds evenly.

We keep the veggie and breakfast mix buckets and seed & spice mix containers in the kitchen. We scoop one meal's worth directly into our bowl or rice cooker at mealtime.
